PostHeaderIcon Questions to HOA

Dear Member,
Your HOA staff (and Directors) are continually challenged to make certain that your interests here are well looked after.
To keep you informed at all times it was decided to notify you via e-mail once a month on news surrounding the running of the Estate. Only by interacting on a continuous basis, can we understand what it is that you, the Islands Community, expect and want. Please forward your questions/suggestions and we will answer it as best we can.

Frequently asked questions
Question: Will the water locks be operational over weekends and from when can we start using it?
Answer: Full operation of the locks is envisaged to be completed in June this year. We must ask that you still bear with us until such time. As you know, the bi-directional lock system is a first in this field and we are experiencing some minor teething problems with regards to the safety measures incorporated in the system. All indications are that it can be 100% operational by next month.

Question: There is a steel structure in one of the slipways obscuring access to the dam for some time now. What is it?
Answer: This is a diffuser unit which will eventually be placed into the Main Hartebeespoortdam to aerate the water which is pumped to the three waterfalls. The logic behind this is to circulate relatively "clean" (algae free) water through the basin into to the Main Hartebeespoortdam. The unit has recently been modified to allow for a better flow rate to the water falls.

Question: What is management doing about our rates and taxes issues e.g. high property rates, consolidation of accounts etc?
Answer: A sub-committee consisting of one director, one member and an appointed attorney have been tasked to pursue this matter with Madibeng Council. Our dissatisfaction with regards to the process of rates establishment and implementation was communicated to the CFO of Madibeng Council. A meeting is scheduled for 11th June 2009.

Question: What is our involvement with regards to the dam remediation programme?
Answer: The HOA, working closely together with DWAF, HWAG and the Haties Metsi-a-me remediation programme, is in the process of developing a plan to attempt to minimise the algae growth in the Main Hartebeespoortdam. Floating wetlands together with suitable shoreline plants will form part of our contribution towards this project.
DWAF is currently finalising the requirements needed for a combined water licence which will be compulsory for all Stakeholders around the dam. We, through the developer, have been involved with DWAF since the inception of the Estate and are now referred to as the norm for the other stakeholders to follow.
We follow an open door policy and again, for those of you that aren't permanent residents, please make time to spend here at The Islands.
Should you want to meet outside office hours, we are available until 18h00 on the last Wednesday of every month.
